Senator Aideen Hayden Housing, Children and Youth Affairs
Welcome to my website.
I am the Labour Party Spokesperson on Housing, Children and Youth Affairs and a member of the Joint Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform. As Chairperson of Threshold, a national housing charity, I have campaigned for over ten years to improve the housing conditions of some of the most vulnerable people in Ireland today.
I believe we now stand at a cross roads with almost 5,000 people homeless and another 100,000 households in mortgage arrears and at risk of losing their homes. In the Seanad I have championed solutions in the area of personal debt, mortgage relief and reform of the banking sector,
I am a qualified solicitor with a degree in economics and have worked for many years in the area of housing and social policy. I was born in Carlow, grew up in Dublin and now live there with my husband, Chris O’Malley, and my two daughters, Elizabeth and Joanna.
