Gresham Planned Redevelopment another vote of confidence in the Northside
Issued : Tuesday 10 June, 2008
The planning application lodged by Precinct Developments Ltd to redevelop thew Gresham Hotel which was presented to the Central Area Committee is another vote of confidence in the Northside of the city, Cllr Aodhan O Riordain has said.
'It is certainly a vote of confidence in the Northside of the city as the Gresham attempt to construct 179 new bedrooms and to revamp the entire hotel. With the other exciting announcements made in recent months in relation to the Carlton site and the Arnotts site, it is encouraging to learn that the Northside of the city is still viewed as a very worthwhile location for mayor private investment. ' Cllr O Riordain said.
'With Dublin city under increasing pressure and competiton from other cities and urban centres in Ireland and abroad as a retail and tourism centre, the Gresham plans are a clear indication that the Northside continues to provide an attractive option for retailers, tourists and hoteliers.' O Riordain continued.
'I look forward to viewing Dublin City Council's judgement on the planning application and I trust that the new Gresham will fit nicely in with the development of Parnell Square, the Carlton site and the relocation of the City Library to the Ambassador site.' Cllr O Riordain concluded.
