LABOUR CALLS FOR CANDIDATES TO SIGN ELECTION PLEDGE AT RECYCLING CENTRE.
Issued : Tuesday 26 May, 2009
The Labour Party in Bray is calling for all the Local Election Candidates to call into the Bray Recycling Centre to sign the “election pledge”.
Barry Nevin who is a Labour Candidate and a member of SIPTU said that it was vital for all the candidates to show their support for the workers in the Recycling Centre. The Labour Party is seeking cross-party support for the recycling staff currently on strike in a bid to retain their jobs and we are calling on candidates of all parties and independents to sign the election pledge that the workers have at the Centre.
By signing the pledges, the Local Election Candidates are promising that they will make this issue their top priority at the first meetings of Bray Town Council and Wicklow County Council that take place after the election on June 5th. I would urge candidates to show solidarity for the workers at the Recycling Centre and to call in to sign the pledge.
