Will the Irish ambassador be withdrawn from Israel following flotilla attacks

Leaders Questions in the Dáil today saw the Labour Leader Eamon Gilmore TD question the Taoiseach about whether he had considered withdrawing the Irish ambassador in Israel following the attack on the Gaza humanitarian aid flotilla early on Monday morning.

"Has the Government given any thought to what action will need to be taken if the Government of Israel does not comply with those calls made by the Government and the governments of other countries? Has the Taoiseach given any consideration, for example, to withdrawing of the Irish ambassador from Israel for consultation, a course of action I understand is being considered by other European countries?

Our Spokesperson on Foreign Affairs Deputy Michael D Higgins spoke later in the House on a debate about the attack and you can see his speech on our You Tube channel; you can also read statements from Proinsias De Rossa MEP, Deputy Michael D Higgins and Deputy Joe Costello on the attacks.
