Council should extend leases for priory hall residents after Supreme Court puts court case back to February

Issued : Thursday 19 January, 2012

Labour Councillor for Donaghmede, Brian McDowell has called on Dublin City Council to immediately enter negotiations with Nama to extend the leases on the apartments currently occupied by Priory Hall residents. The Supreme Court today put back the case for mention to the 16th February.

“The decision of the Supreme Court today means that the High Court ruling that Dublin City Council is liable for the accommodation costs of the residents is still in force stated Cllr. McDowell.  The lease on the Nama apartments expires on the 3rd February next according to Councillor McDowell. Dublin City Council needs to extend these leases for at least 3 months to give some certainty for residents about where they will be living for the next few months”

“Priory Hall residents have been out of their homes through no fault of their own for 3 months. Serious proposal need to be put on the table now to move this matter forward “concluded Cllr. McDowell
