Cllr. Ciara Conway ‘LIGHTS UP’ Pinewood Residents Campaign
Issued : Monday 22 February, 2010
Labour Cllr. Ciara Conway Supports Pinewood residents in Abbeyside Dungarvan in their campaign to up grade the Monang road to include footpaths and associated lighting. The Residents of Pinewood invited the Councillors to walk the road in November 2009, which Labour Town Cllr. Ciara Conway accompanied residents on, ‘I agree that the road is in serious need of improvement, I have given my support and am committed to assist and advocate on this issue’.
Following on from this I gave an undertaking to source High –Viz vest for each of the households in Pine Wood, the Road Safety Authority supplied them and I distributed them to each of the households last weekend. I appeal to all residents in the Dungarvan Town Area to wear appropriate high visibility vests to ensure that they are safe on the roads. It cannot be stressed how important it is to Be Safe and Be Seen on the road. According to the www.rsa.ie “Wearing a simple high visibility vest will reduce the risk of being involved in a fatal or serious injury collision. The best advice that we can give is to be aware of your vulnerability on the road, take responsibility for your safety, and make sure that everyone in your household wears a high visibility vest when walking or cycling, day or night. It could be the difference between being seriously injured, killed or living. Quite simply, wearing the vest could save your life.
