Labour T.D. for Waterford, Ciara Conway is welcoming funding of  400 thousand euro which is being given to Splashworld  in Tramore  to improve access for people with disabilities and to make it more energy efficient.

It is part of over 5.3 million euro in grants being spent nationwide.

A further 335,320 thousand euro is going towards the pool in the Sean Kelly Centre in Carrick-on-Suir.

“Any measure that makes pools cheaper to run has to be welcomed- and the funding for energy efficiency should do just that,” said Deputy Ciara Conway.

“Swimming is great exercise, and it’s something that should be available to everyone.

Water-based activities and therapies are particularly beneficial for people with disabilities, so it’s very important that the access is there.

This money will improve on that, and hopefully it’ll benefit families  in  Tramore  and in Carrick-  as well as being a plus for tourists.”
