Mayor of 'Labours Birth Place' congratulations Michael D. Higgins

Mayor of Clonmel, Cllr. Darren Ryan has extended his warmest Congratulations to Michael D. Higgins on his election as the ninth President of Ireland.
Clonmel is the 'birth place' of the Labour Party, founded in the Council Chamber of Clonmel Borough Council in 1912.
Mayor Ryan, who hosted a Mayoral welcome to Michael D and his wife Sabina a number of weeks ago when he visited Clonmel, has expressed his delight at Michael D.'s success. “the campaign that Michael D ran is testament to the results today, during his campaign Michael acted like a President and spoke like a President, and displayed to the people of this Country that he is most certainly a President we can be Proud of. I want to express my sincerest congratulations to Michael and Sabina and wish them every success during their time in Aras an Uachtarain.”
“I am also pleased that the vote in Tipperary South is in line with the National trend, and I want to extend my thanks to the people of Clonmel for supporting Michael D.”
