Maritime Heritage Iniative

Issued : Monday 15 February, 2010
Areas : Passage West

At our last Town Council meeting the following motion was passed;
“That Passage West Town Council should champion Passage West as a Maritime Heritage Town and initiate a policy towards acclaiming that maritime heritage by every possible means with the ultimate aim of increasing civic pride and boosting trade in the town centre.”
The motion was proposed by independent Cllr Marcia D’Alton and seconded by myself. We are putting a team together to start investigating the towns rich maritime history and the methods we could employ to showcase this for the benefit of the whole community in Passage West.
As a start we are thinking about a walking trail through the town with displays at various points of historical interest.
