Senator Denis Landy
Denis Landy a former Mayor of Carrick on Suir on two occasions, was elected to the Seanad in April 2011
He is a former member of South Tipperary County Council and Carrick On Suir Town Council. First co-opted to Carrick On Suir Town Council in 1988 and subsequently elected at every election, he was also a Labour Party candidate in the 2001 By-Election in which he polled very well and also a candidate in the 2002 General Election.
Denis works as a full time public representative where he has a specific interest in youth activities. He is also involved in education at local level being a member of the Board of Management of Newtown Upper national school. Denis has been involved in a number of campaigns to highlight the need to create local employment and set up the Employment Research Group in Carrick On Suir which has carried out local employment surveys and run Employment Seminars involving the main employment agencies in the state. He has an interest in all sports but most particularly hurling, soccer and horse racing.
