Senator Denis Landy Environment & Defence
Spokesperson on Environment, Local Government, Defence & Sport
Hello and thanks for stopping by my page. I've been involved in Labour Party politics from a very young age having followed in the footsteps of my uncle Michael Kavanagh who was one of the founder members of the Labour Party in Carrick-on-Suir.
In April 2011 I was elected to Seanad Eireann having served as a local councillor for over 23 years. I was first co-opted onto Carrick-on-Suir Town Council in 1988 and subsequently elected at every election, as well as being a member of South Tipperary County Council since 1991. I have been involved in public life in many ways throughout my life.
In 2001 I stood for the Labour Party in the by-election and also as a candidate in 2002 General Election. On both occasions I polled very well and was proud to carry the Labour flag in South Tipperary the birth place of the Labour Party.
Since my election to Seanad Éireann I have raised issues such as the future of Local Government in Ireland, the need to support small business, the provision of Community Supports to help build sustainable neighbourhoods to name just a few.
My particular hobbies include all sports but particularly I have a keen interest in hurling and horse racing. I am also a great lover of the outdoor life and in all field sports. If you need to get in contact with me, you can find my contact details available on this page.
