Local Authority Swimming Pool Programme
Motion: Councillor D. O'Callaghan
"That this Council condemns the decision by the Minister for Arts, Sports and
Tourism to end the local authority swimming pool programme and calls on the
Minister to immediately reverse this cut."
Report:
The second round of the Local Authorities Swimming Pool Programme which
commenced in 2000 is still operational. However, round three which was due to
commence in 2008/09 has been suspended as a result of the current economic
position. Should the motion be agreed the Council will write to the Minister
requesting the activation of round three of the programme.
