Labour Party (Ireland) Membership and Donations Policy

  • Your membership fee is not a donation to the Labour Party. You may apply to join the Labour Party if you
    • Support the aims and objectives of the party
    • Are a member of no other party, or a member of a sister party (i.e. you may join the Labour Party if you are a member of a party affiliated to the Socialist International or the Party of European Socialists).
    • Pay the membership fee provided
  • Any payment other than for merchandise or for the required membership fee is a donation to the Labour Party. The Labour Party welcomes donations from those who support the objectives of the party, but all donations must be in accordance with the requirements of Irish legislation and the Labour Party ethical standards.
  • Individuals may only make a donation if they are either :
    • resident in Ireland
    • a citizen of the Republic of Ireland (i.e. hold an Irish Passport)
  • Donors must provide their name and address, anonymous donations are not accepted
  • This donations site is for individual donors only, any corporate body wishing to make a donation should write, giving details, to:

  • No individual may donate more than €6,348 in any one calendar year.
  • The completion of this form and submission of the membership fee represents an application for membership of the Labour Party (Ireland). A person is not accepted into membership of the party until the application has been accepted by the General Secretary.

Refunds Policy

By law, customers located in the European Union have the right to withdraw from the purchase of an item within seven working days of the day after the date the item is delivered. While membership of a political party is not covered by this legislation, in the interests of good practice the Labour Party will return your membership money and cancel your membership if you inform the party of a decision to change your mind within 10 days of application. The refund will be completed within 10 days of receiving your cancellation. The same policy will apply in the case of donations to the party.

If, for any reason, the Labour Party decides not to accept your membership application or donation the membership fee/donation will be returned in full within 10 days of your application/payment.

Where the Labour Party site offers merchandise and you are withdrawing from your purchase of such merchandise within the 10 days of purchase, and there has been no error on our part, we will refund the cost of the item and the cost of sending the item to you as follows:

  • where you are returning an item that was part of a larger order, we'll refund the per-item charge for delivery that you incurred
  • where you are returning an entire order, we'll refund applicable per-item delivery charges and the per-delivery charge that you incurred
  • we will refund only standard (Airmail) postage charges for items delivered outside Ireland
