CLOSURE OF COUNCIL CASH OFFICES MAKES NO SENSE

Issued : Friday 9 October, 2009

I am very concerned that Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council is proposing to close cash offices in County Hall and in Dundrum.

This closure will result in a severe reduction in the level of service provided by the Council to the public.

I am very concerned that Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council is proposing to close cash offices in County Hall and in Dundrum.

This closure will result in a severe reduction in the level of service provided by the Council to the public. These offices facilitate the collection of cash from people who money to the Council. At a time when councils are strapped for cash, councils should be making it easier, not more difficult, to make a payment. Closing cash offices makes no sense whatsoever.

I understand that this matter is to be discussed at next week’s council meeting and I will be in contact with Labour Council members to ask them to keep me fully briefed on the situation.
