Watermains Rehabilitation Works in Lucan Main
Street and Sarsfield
Park: The Manager gave me with a comprehensive Report
at Tuesday’s meeting. Almost 3 km of old watermains (which were exhibiting high
leakage and burst rates ) were replaced. If the works were not done, frequent
interruptions of supply and expensive water leakage would be likely. . There was
extensive consultation in advance with commercial customers in the area,
including a meeting with Lucan Chamber of Commerce. The Council engaged in
publicity, by advertisements, leaflets and visits to businesses. The cost was
€612,000, 90% funded by Government and 10% by the Council.

Village
Taxi Rank:
In response to Motions from Cllr Lavelle and myself, the Roads
Department has made an interesting proposal for a replacement larger Taxi Rank
at Village Court on the Lucan Road. At Tuesday’s meeting we agreed to give time
for consultation with residents, business owners and Taxi owners, before
refining and deciding on the proposal at the meeting of 25th October.
