Eddie O Connor - 'One of Wexford's most gentle sons'

The death of Eddie O' Connor has deprived Wexford of one of its most gentle sons. Eddie was a person who gave a great deal to his community. As President of St. Mary's of Maudlintown GFC he was committed to the club to which he gave a lifetime of service. Just last Friday night I had the privilege of presenting Eddie with an award in recognition of those long years of service.
One of his proudest moments was of course his Election to the office of Mayor of Wexford in 1997. This was a role he filled with distinction with his late wife Kathleen so proudly by his side. My sympathies and thoughts are with his son Martin and daughter Ann Marie at this time. He will be remembered with total affection by those whom he encountered throughout his life.
