NASH CONGRATULATES TALLANSTOWN ON WINNING TIDY TOWNS TITLE

Issued : Monday 13 September, 2010

Cllr. Gerald Nash has extended his congratulations to the Mid-Louth village of Tallanstown on capturing the 2010 national Tidy Towns crown.

The Labour member of Louth County Council said, “The Tallanstown Committee has been knocking on the door of the winner’s enclosure for the last few years.

“The village secured the international Entente Florale in 2008 and kicked on from there to become a serious challenger for the Tidy Towns title, coming close to winning the overall award last year.

“This award is well deserved and serves to remind us all of what can be achieved when local authorities, voluntary committees and citizens work together with the common good in mind.

“Thanks to the commitment of Louth Local Authorities and the work of the voluntary sector and business community in Louth, the position of the large population centres of Drogheda and Dundalk has been improving as measured by the IBAL National Anti-Litter League.

“Tallanstown’s success is a tremendous boost for Louth as a whole and will inspire other towns and villages in the County to continue to up their game.”
