- During his employment with Westmeath County Council, Gerry has been involved in numerous Community based initiatives including:
- • Co-ordinated the introduction of Strategic Policy Committees in 2001 which facilitate Voluntary and Community Groups having an input into Council policy formation.
- • Organised and promoted the development of Westmeath Junior County Council since 2003 which is an important forum for young people.
- • Co-ordinated the introduction of Jet Ski Bye-Laws in 2006 which enhance the environment of lakes in Westmeath.
- • Organised and promoted Road Safety Educational Programmes within the Community.
