Henry was elected to Dublin City Council in the Crumlin/Ward in June 2009. He was elected on the forth count.

Henry Upton is the eldest son of the late Pat Upton T.D. and nephew of Mary Upton, the current Labour Deputy for Dublin South Central. A Graduate of University College Dublin, B. Comm., he has been a member of the Labour Party since he was fourteen. He was elected to the National Executive Council of the Party at National Conference in 2005 and again in 2007 where he was elected on the first count.
