Joan Burton visited Trim on Tuesday to lend her support to Meath West Labour candidate and Laracor based Cllr Jenny McHugh. They walked the streets of Trim getting a feel for the issues in the town.
The main issues were the need to get people back to work and immigration. Jenny McHugh stated that "Labours priority is to get people off the dole queues and back into the workforce. We must stop the loss of all of our talented and skilled workers and students who are now leaving the country."
Ms McHugh also brought up the issue of Trims Townhall " I will lend my support in whatever way I can to improving the facilities in Trim. I know the renovation of the townhall has been on the agenda from quite some time and I will be doing everything in my power to push it through. Living in the Trim area myself I see the importance of having a TD that can raise issues for the people of Trim"
Joan Burton said of Jenny, "In Jenny McHugh the people of Meath West have a strong dynamic candidate. Her background in education sets her apart from other candidates when it's comes to social issues affecting the young people of the county."
The contingent were received very well by the people of Trim. Jenny Mchugh went on to canvass estates in Trim. Later in the evening she was followed by Pat Kennys Radio programme as she visited areas in Navan."
