Jim has been actively involved in politics since 1985. He joined the Labour Party in 2003 and successfully secured a seat on both Sligo Borough Council and Sligo County Council in the local elections of that year.
Jim is well known for his hard work as a constituent politician and would like to see more opportunities afforded to the less well off in our society. He is chairperson of Shalomar housing for the homeless and secretary of Kazelain a home for young offenders. He takes a keen interest in the youth of the community and recently was instrumental in establishing a Labour Youth Branch for Co. Sligo.
