Welcome from Cllr Kevin Humphreys
I am a Dubliner reared in Ringsend, living in Sandymount, and married to Catherine with two children. I was first elected to Dublin City Council to represent the South East Inner City in 1999, polling 959 votes. In 2004 I topped the poll with 1980 votes and in last June’s election I was delighted to once again do so with 2598 votes. More importantly, in 2009 Labour succeeded in having 2 councillors elected from the South East Inner City when I was joined on Dublin City Council by my colleague Maria Parodi.
Since my election 10 years ago, I have worked continuously to improve the lives of the people living in Dublin City through a wide range of initiatives in areas such as housing, traffic management, litter, and environmental issues.
Dublin is a great place to live but there are issues that need to be addressed; such as the provision of community facilities, better public transportation, improved traffic management and sustainable planning. I am committed to make real progress on these and other issues over the next five years.
I will continue to work to bring about the changes the city requires to ensure that Dublin remains a place that we are proud to call home. I will ensure that Dublin gets the investment it needs to improve the lives of all people living in the city. I strongly believe that Local Government must be about building sustainable and safe communities. It should be about ensuring that local services are provided at a local level. Decisions taken by Dublin City Council must take account of the wishes and needs of existing and future local communities.
If there are any issues, which I can help you with, please do not hesitate to contact me.
