Minister for Environment lets down Ringsend, Sandymount and Irishtown

Labour Councillor Kevin Humphreys expressed his surprise and shock that Minister Gormley has failed to deliver on his election promise to halt the construction of the Poolbeg Incinerator in Ringsend.

“All talk and no action is becoming a theme of this Ministers achievement in government. First he failed to prevent the Hill of Tara Motorway project from going ahead and now he has let down his own local community in failing to prevent the Poolbeg Incinerator from going ahead.”

“The long running campaign by residents in Sandymount, Ringsend and Irishtown to stop the Incinerator isn’t over and I will continue to work with the Community to prevent an Incinerator from getting built. At 600,000 tonnes this project is too large and is in the wrong location.”
