Cllr Killian Forde

Dublin North East

Welcome from Cllr Killian Forde

Cllr Killian Forde joins Labour

A northeast dub by birth, Killian’s route to politics has been circuitous, preceded by careers in the music industry, media and international aid and development.

Returning to Ireland in 2001 Killian was shocked at the level of ineptitude, myopia and parochialism on display in Irish politics. Getting involved locally seemed obvious and in 2004 Killian won a seat on Dublin City Council.

Over 2,000 constituency representations later and thousands of hours spent on local campaigns focusing on planning, traffic, policing and leisure facilities Killian had to resubmit himself to the electorate. In 2009 he was once again chosen by the electorate of Donaghmede ward to represent their local government needs and views.

Growing increasingly anxious at the erosion of the Irish economy and recognising that the changes needed required wholesale legislative and constitutional reform, Killian felt that Eamon Gilmore’s vision of a New Republic outlined a template for recovery and a foundation for sustainable success for our country.

In January 2010 Killian applied to and was welcomed into the Labour party.

Killian joins nineteen other Labour Councillors on Dublin City Council. He is the Chairperson of the Finance Committee of City Council where he will be advancing a programme of value for money, transparency and accountability.

In addition to his role as a Councillor, Killian works with a Community Development Project writes a travel column for a national newspaper and is in the middle of studying for an MBA in Dublin City University.

Killian operates a mobile clinic, give him a ring, he will come meet you.
