Welcome to my website.

Prior to my election to Cork City Council in June 2009, I was co-opted to Council in June 2007 following the vacancy of Deputy Ciaran Lynch’s local council seat. I was involved in Deputy Ciaran Lynch’s last two very successful campaigns. I was co-ordinator for the South Central ward in the last General Election campaign.
During my time in council I have been Chair Person of Cork City Council Roads and Transportation Strategic Policy Committee; and Chairperson of Cork City Council's Arts Committee.

I am a volunteer tutor with Special Educational Needs students. I have always been involved with groups who have been marginalised or struggling in their everyday life because of disability. An area that I’m especially interested in is Dyspraxia/DCD and Dyslexia. I also feel that services/needs of the learner should be more readily available and more easily accessible to children with special needs in Primary, Secondary and Third level. It’s very difficult and emotional for all involved, i.e. family and guardians to access these services with the added frustration of waiting lists too. Sometimes the discourse and teams of assessors can be very frightening or intimidating for those trying to get, what is after all, an educational right for every child in Ireland.

As your Re-elected Labour Party Councillor, I will continue to work hard and campaign upon issues such as better access to jobs, improving funding and facilities for young people, as well as ensuring that funding for very necessary services like the Housing Adaptation Grant for older members of the community are protected and maintained.

'I have a particular concern about our young people. They have an invaluable contribution to make in our society. It is important that young people fully belong to our parish and the wider community. I'm working hard to promote and improve Youth Club and Youth Cafès. These are safe spaces where our young people can establish lifelong relationships.

I am also a very supportive of the Older Person Forum, a Labour Party initiative. I will seek to have an Older Person Forum established locally.

I will work hard to ensure well planned housing provision for the community supporting the creation of safe and reliable places to live as well as safe and sustainable public transport system across Cork City.

With your help and support, as your public representative I will continue to work for a better future for South Central. If there are any issues which you would like to discuss, do not hesitate to contact me.
