Posted on January 11, 2011
STATEMENT BY
COUNCILLOR MARIE MOLONEY
General Election Candidate & Councillor for Killarney Electoral Area
11th January 2011
Tighter regulations should be introduced for registration of births.
“The present situation whereby anyone can walk off the street and register a birth without any proof of birth is not good enough” according to Marie Moloney, General Election Candidate and Labour Party Councillor.
“At the moment anyone can register the birth of a baby and no written confirmation from either the hospital or, in the case of home births, from a Midwife, this leaves the door open for child benefit fraud” claimed Councillor Moloney.
