Emigration is a huge factor for students and a worry for parents

Emigration is firmly on the minds of all students, according the Councillor Marie Moloney, the Labour Party General Election Candidate for Kerry South.
Having visited the I.T. in Tralee during the week and met with and surveyed a number of students, it was very disheartening to hear that nearly all of the students I spoke with were thinking of emigrating, said Councillor Moloney.
“Today’s students cannot see any future for themselves in this country and feel that they will have to emigrate to find suitable work. This is a sad indictment on the state of our country. We will be losing a whole generation of well educated young people unless we act fast and put in place a stimulus package to create sustainable jobs in Ireland”
Obviously during the course of the survey, some student declared that they are looking forward to travelling for the experience and to find work abroad but most of them want to return in the future years when they are hopeful that Ireland will be on the recovery from this economic crisis.
While canvassing around the constituency, I have been speaking with parents and grandparents who are heartbroken that their children and grandchildren have emigrated and it is genuinely a huge worry to parents of present day students.
“The Labour party proposes to introduce 30,000 Graduate Internship places for Students who cannot find a job when they graduate which will hopefully be a stepping stone to full employment. Job creation has got to be top priority with the next Government” concluded Councillor Moloney.
