Cllr Mark Wall has welcomed the news that Kildare County Council are to allocate €40,000 to the upgrade of roads in the Riverstown/Kilpatrick area of Kildanagan as well as committing €6,000 to a low cost safety improvement grant for the dangerous cross keys junction in the village.

Speaking at the area meeting of Kildare County Council, Cllr Wall thanked the area office and the area engineer for meeting him in Kildanagan to discuss the issues and for the positive replies to the two motions that he had tabled.

Cllr Wall went on to say that the acknowledged the very poor condition of the Kilpatrick/ Riverstown roads and that the €40,000 committed by the Council would be the first stage in bringing the roads in this area up to a proper and acceptable standard. The safety scheme for the cross keys junction is currently being prepared by Kildare County Council, following the securing of approved funding from the NRA.

The works will primarily relate to line marking and signage and the work will be carried out by the area office.

“This junction leads to the local cemetery in Ballybracken and is particularly dangerous to access, I am informed that this scheme will improve the sightlines at the junction and improve the safety of all those using it, I look forward to the upgrading of the Kilpatrick/Riverstown road for the safety of all the Residents in this Community “concluded Cllr Wall.
