Cllr Mary McCamley
Mary was co-opted to the council seat left vacant by Deputy Patrick Nulty in the Dublin West By-Election of 2011. She represents the people of the Mulhuddart Ward which takes in new developments such as Tyrrelstown and Ongar as well as older estates such as Corduff and Blakestown. Her interest in politics began when as a young mother she was involved in lobbying for woman’s issues in Finglas, as the mother of two grown up sons, she was one of the first residents in the Castlecurragh Estate, a Fingal County Council pilot scheme of newly built affordable houses in Mulhuddart.
Mary has brought her energy, experience and passion to all elections, general and local in the past 10 years since coming to live in Dublin West and has worked along side both Joan Burton and Patrick Nulty in campaigning for local issues. She has been a strong supporter of Labour all her life and is the secretary of Dublin North HSE branch of Impact and a union representative in Connolly Hospital where she is employed as Patient Services Officer. She is well known to patients and staff alike having worked in her position for a number of years. Mary would like to lobby for continued investment in the hospital and promote a positive aspect for the hospital in Dublin West. Mary is looking forward to working with volunteer groups in her area dealing with community development issues, mental health issues, job creation and education. She will continue to promote her area as a decent place to live and a decent place to bring up a family.
