Water Upgrade Castlecomer - Clogh - Moneenroe

Issued : Friday 24 June, 2011

Improvement works have commenced to the Castlecomer- Clogh- Moneenroe public water supply. Cllr. Maurice Shortall says a new Uni-Directional Scouring Programme has started. “Initially the  focus is on the Filtration Gallery to the Pumphouse at Loon and all of the sumps and tanks will be washed down, while  work on the rising main from Loon to Mayhora also forms part of  preparatory programme. When the flushing moves away from the sources there is undoubtedly going to be disruption and discolouring discharges but towards the end of the year we will see the benefits.” Said Cllr. Shortall. Some €50,000 is being spent on the improvement works. An application for an investment of €1.25 million in the Castlecomer-Clogh-Moneenroe Water Supply is with the Department of the Environment.
