Shortall Calls for Pro-Active Planning in North Kilkenny.

Issued : Tuesday 27 September, 2011

In welcoming the decision of Kilkenny County Council to initiate the Part 8 process for the new 50 PE Coon Wastewater Treatment Plant  in advance of the funding, Cllr. Maurice Shortall left officials in no doubt at the September meeting of the Local Authority as to expectations in Castlecomer, Freshford and Clogh-Moneenroe. “With interim upgrade proposals for Freshford and Castlecomer on the Priority List it makes sense to advance both to the Part 8 process. Just like Coon which has been given the green light funding can be sought under the Small Schemes Programme. Clogh-Moneenroe is the most densely populated rural area in the county and upgrade proposals are with the Department of the Environment. It is imperative to ensure all three schemes are shovel ready in advance of the funding ” Said Cllr. Shortall.
