WELL WELL WHAT A BOOST FOR NORTH KILKENNY WATERWORKS.

Significant funding has been allocated by Kilkenny County Council across North Kilkenny in the current Capital Budget. In 2012 - 2013 Interim Upgrades to the Waste Water Treatment Plants will be rolled out in Freshford (€640,000) ;  Castlecomer (€720,000) ; Johnstown (€740,000) and Urlingford (€400,000). Improvement works are also scheduled for Water Supplies and Pipe Networks, given the green light here were Clogh- Moneenroe- Castlecomer (€2,500,000) and Ballyragget (€340,000).                                        Labour Cllr. Maurice Shortall says the investment is a timely boost and a vote of confidence to the areas involved. “Great credit is due to the staff of Kilkenny County Council under the stewardship of Director of Services Philip O’Neill and also to our own Minister for the Environment Phil Hogan T.D. in what was a real team effort.                          The quality of our water coupled with the care of our natural environment are key to restoring consumer confidence in what will be a difficult decade ahead.” Said Cllr. Shortall.
