A Chara,
Ta súil agam go bhfuil sibh go léir sásta leis an obair atá déanta agam ar an gcomhairle ar feadh na mbliana.
I have been your Labour Party representative on Cork City Council since 1995 when I was co-opted in place of the then Minister of State Toddy O’Sullivan. Since then I was elected in 1999 and re-elected in 2004 and again in 2009

I have worked as an Accountant in many industries and as a Lecturer in Accounting at the Cork Institute of Technology. I was very privileged to serve as Lord Mayor of Cork for the 2006 - 2007 term. I have served as Secretary of the Teachers Union of Ireland - Cork City Colleges Branch. I have also served as President of the Cork and District Branch of The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants

I have a great interest in Sport and I am a member of the Cork City Council - Sports Committee. I was involved in the setting up of this committee which grant-aids many of the sporting clubs and organisations in the city. I a very firm believer in the value of sport to young people and to society as a whole.

Pat Rabbitte TD and Cllr. Ciaran Lynch congratulate Cllr. Michael Ahern on his election as Lord Mayor of Cork in 2006
