€123,000 for Changing Rooms in Le Fanu Park
Issued : Wednesday 19 October, 2011
Labour TD Michael Conaghan welcomed the news that the Government are making €123,000 available to Dublin City Council to upgrade changing rooms in Le Fanu Park, Ballyfermot.
Deputy Conaghan said: "I'm delighted that the Minister is providing this funding to upgrade changing facilities in Le Fanu Park. The park plays host to a number of local football teams, and is a valuable amenity for the community.
"This is a targeted investment to provide for the huge interest in sport in the area. It is a recognition of the energy and commitment of the people who coach and manage sports teams in Ballyfermot, and the enthusiasm of everyone who participates.
"Participation in sport is vital in keeping young people fit, active and healthy. The Government's investment in sporting facilities will give people in this area that chance. This new investment comes soon after the announcement of €20,000 to develop a 'Slí na Sláinte' route in Lansdowne Valley Park. Investments such as these help open up and animate our parks, helping make them valuable, safe and lively amenities for people in the area, turning them into the valuable asset that they should be".
Minister for Sport Michael Ring has made this funding available as part of a programme aimed at boosting participation in sport. This is part of the third round of a capital grant scheme for local authority backed sports projects.
