Michael McNamara TD
It was a great honour to be elected to represent Clare on 25th February 2011. In so doing I regained the Labour seat won by Mosajee Bamjee in 1992 and long-held by Paddy Hogan.
From Scariff, Co. Clare, I studied in Scariff Community College, St. Flannan’s College, Ennis and UCC. I worked as a human rights lawyer with the OSCE in Eastern Europe and with the United Nations in Afghanistan before returning to Ireland in 2005 to run my family farm and practice at the Bar. I continued to work as a consultant for the EU and UN until elected.
I am a member of Scariff GAA Club and the IFA.
EXPENSES 2011 - published by Michael McNamara TD
The Parliamentary Standard Allowance came into effect on 1st March 2010 under the Oireachtas (Allowances and Facilities) Regulations, 2010 (SI 84/2010).
Like all other TDs, the amount which I receive has two allowances combined.
- A Travel and Accommodation Allowance, which is based on my distance from Dublin, covers travel within the constituency, to and from Dublin, and accommodation there and replaces the old system under which TDs were paid civil service mileage and overnight allowances for each trip claimed.
- A Public Representation Allowance, for which I chose the fully vouched option, is detailed and the amount spent is greater than the allowance.
