Telephone Masts
Issued : Monday 1 February, 2010
No more illegal telephone masts in Dun Laoghaire Rathdown. Today residents of St. Fintans in Blackrock received good news; their campaign to have a newly erected mast removed has been supported by the Planning Authority.
Last autumn these people woke up and discovered that a telephone mast had been erected on the TEK football lands to the rear of their houses. Contacting me, I organized that the Enforcement Office of the Council would visit the site and decide if it had planning permission. We were informed it did not. TEK were obliged to apply for “retention”. The residents met, organized a petition, and submitted objections to the planning permission, many of them paying the 20euro fee.
Good news today, the Planning Authority has for the reasons below refused permission. The residents are delighted and happy with the way the planners responded to their campaign.
Congratulations to the residents, good exercise of people power.
