The former Mayor of Dublin, Paddy Bourke has been involved in community work on behalf of hardworking families and communities across the northside of Dublin for many years.
He was first elected to represent the Artane ward of Dublin City Council in 1991 representing the Labour Party and regained his seat for Labour in 2004 and again in 2009
Paddy has chaired and still serves in the committee of Ardmore/Montrose Residents' Association. He is a founder member and first chairman of the Artane/Beaumont Family Recreation Centre and continues his involvement in the centre serving as a life trustee and committee member. Paddy is married to Margaret who is a community activist serving for many years as treasurer of the Dublin Community Games. Their daughter Christine continues in the tradition of voluntary community work serving as a scout leader in the local Beaumont scouts.
Paddy is an experienced politician, having been leader of the Labour group on the City Council, chairman of the Finance and the Estimates committees and has served seven years as a member of the board of Dublin Institute of Technology Governing Body.
Paddy is currently chairperson of the City of Dublin Vocational Education Committee and is Chairperson of three constituent colleges, Colaiste Dhulaigh,, Killester and Margaret Aylward Community College.
Paddy Bourke shares the hopes and concerns of the families, kids and older folks in his area for a better life. They know that Dublin and Ireland can do better.
