Templeogue Village Parking

Posted on February 19, 2009

I have had a number of queries from local residents regarding the Templeogue Village Parking Scheme. People are anxious to find out when it will be introduced and what form it will take.

We know for certain that a “Pay and Display” system is to be introduced for the car park when it is opened on the old piggery site in the village. However, the situation regarding the surrounding residential streets is uncertain. I have been informed by the Roads Department of South Dublin County Council that they will fully inspect the area within the next few months and will then decide what parking control measures are appropriate. This may involve the painting of yellow lines, disc parking or any other measures that are deemed to be suitable.

MGLD Teachers

Posted on February 19, 2009

Children are yet again the target of the Government cutbacks as 119 schools will lose their Mild General Learning Disability teachers (MGLD). In my experience as a playschool teacher and childcare worker early intervention is essential for children with learning difficulties. The sooner the children get help the greater the chance that they will improve both academically and behaviourally.

Without intervention children with learning difficulties will struggle to keep up with their school work. This causes anxiety and may result in the child “acting up” and becoming very disruptive. This leads to a further sense of rejection, isolation and exclusion.
