Gaelscoil Inis Córthaidh to receive permanent building- Cllr Cody

Issued : Tuesday 13 September, 2011

The Labour Party Cllr for Wexford, Pat Cody has welcomed the announcement by the Minister for Education and Skills, Ruairí Quinn that Gaelscoil Inis Córthaidh in Enniscorthy, County Wexford is to be expanded and a permanent building is to be built.

"Gaelscoil Inis Córthaidh is currently operating from rented premises and Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, Brendan Howlin and I have been highlighting for some time the fact that the school is badly in need of a permanent building.

"I am therefore delighted with the announcement made by Minister Quinn in relation to Gaelscoil Inis Córthaidh. Not only has a site for the new school been identified, but the school will also be extended to 16 classrooms. This is great news for Enniscorthy where there is a need for additional school places."

The building is to take place under the 2012 rapid programme and it is expected the school will be in place for September 2013.
