Mayor Pat Leahy
Hi there I am Cllr Pat Leahy
I was elected to Kerry County Council at my first attempt in 1991, replacing the retiring legend John Joe O’Sullivan and I have held the seat ever since.
I live in Moyvane, married to Mary with four daughters, so women’s issues are much to the fore in our house. I work as a delivery truck driver at M J O’Carroll’s Hardware in Listowel.
I spend most of the time meeting with the public and am very much aware of all the problems facing families right now, these include Jobs , Schooling and Education, Health an Hospitals, Planning issues, Roads, Housing and environmental problems. My time is spent campaigning for Social Housing, Planning issues and all the problems facing young couples, while Health issues for everybody are a major problem at Kerry General Hospital which is constantly being downgraded by HSE. The referring of patients to Cork University Hospital which is 100 miles from Cork is a major heartache for North Kerry people, while in the old days they were referred to Limerick General Hospital which is only 30 miles away.
My campaign is to retain and improve all the services at Kerry General.
I will be campaigning for Jobs and more return to work education and training.
Never was the economic and financial situation so dire, we have been led to the abyss by Fianna Fáil and the Green Stooges and of course Jackie the real Finnna Fáil. He complained when the new Licensing Laws were enacted that the TD’ went for a snooze, but Jackie was snoozing when Brian Lenihan frightened the life out of our over seventies with his Medical Card cuts.
I will be campaigning for improved services for our elderly and a Fair Deal for all.
