- Daughter of Eileen Desmond, former Labour Minister and MEP and of Dan Desmond, also a Labour TD and deputy leader of the party until his death in 1964.
Education:
- Educated in Cork, Paula qualified as a solicitor in 1990, having returned to college as a mature student. She has since qualified as a Family Mediator having trained with the Family Mediation Service and is a fully accredited practitioner member of the Mediators Institute of Ireland.
