TheFairSociety_Manifesto2007Four years ago in Killarney, Pat Rabbitte set out his vision for the future of our country. He called it, the Fair Society. After more than fifteen years of growth and prosperity, we have a successful economy. But economic success alone is not the full measure of our progress. We have not used the fruits of growth to build the kind of society that our people deserve, or that we can be proud to bequeath to our children.

Our vision of a A Fair Society is built on an enterprising economy, personal liberty, social solidarity and environmental responsibility. We have set out ideas that will drive change. These ideas are grounded in a modern conception of social democracy, and in the need to tackle the concrete problems that affect hard working families in their day to day lives. My five commitments for change will be my first five priorities in Government.

In this manifesto, Labour is setting out a broad-ranging programme for a progressive, centre-left Government that will build the Fair Society
