Concert goers should get a refund

Statement by Michael McCarthy TD

Labour Senator Michael McCarthy has said that concert goers at last night’s Guns N’ Roses concert should get a refund.

“Guns N’ Roses front man Axl Rose stormed off stage in the O2 last night after plastic cups of liquid were thrown at his band during their performance. Some of the audience had been at the O2 since 6.30pm. The band were late going on stage. They appeared on stage at about 10.30pm and then left after only five songs.

“Reports say that the lights came on and the security people told concert goers to go home. Confusion reigned and thousands of fans had left by the time the band came back again on stage to complete their set.

“The statement issued by MCD makes no mention of refunds for those fans that left the concert early in the mistaken belief that it was over. Tickets for the concert were not cheap and many people attending the concert last night would also have incurred overnight accommodation costs.

“Fans who paid the €71.70 plus booking fee for a ticket have every right to feel short changed and should get a refund.”
