Shortall welcomes plans for Santry Village

Issued : Monday 28 June, 2010

Local Labour T.D Róisín Shortall has welcomed plans by Dublin City Council to commence drafting a new plan for Santry Village in early 2011.

In a reply secured by Deputy Shortall, Dublin City Council indicate that they will set about producing an in house plan, following approval of the City Development Plan.

Deputy Shortall commented, 'This has been in the pipeline for over a decade.'

'This is an important development in our area, as it will structure any future development of Santry. The plan will hopefully focus attention on current problems, including current traffic flows and the clear need for more pedestrian crossings.'

'This is an important sign that Dublin City Council intends to produce a credible future plan for Santry Village. Both Santry and Finglas villages have been left behind by the regeneration process, and with the current economic climate, it is encouraging to see that the Council is focusing on improving our surroundings.'
