Shortall welcomes the reintroduction of household grant schemes

Issued : Tuesday 13 July, 2010

Local Labour T.D Róisín Shortall has welcomed confirmation by Dublin City Council that it has reintroduced it's household grant schemes and has once again begun to accept applications.

Deputy Shortall commented, 'Dublin City Council closed down the housing grant schemes last year due to the overwhelming volume of interest in the schemes and a subsequent shortfall in funding.

I recently received notification from Dublin City Council that they have reopened their grant schemes as of from 5th July 2010 for a 3 month period only. This time frame may be extended following a further review.

I would urge anyone interested in any of the schemes, such as the housing adaptation grant, the mobility aids grant, or the housing aid for older persons grant scheme, to apply as soon as possible, ensuring that you do not miss the closing deadline.'

For further information or an application form you can contact Dublin City Council directly on ph (01) 222 2195.
