Issued : Thursday 22 September, 2011
Local TD and Minister of State at the Department of Health, Róisín Shortall today congratulated the voluntary groups and charities based in Dublin North West who received funding under this year's Dublin Bus Community Support Programme Awards.
This is a funding initiative from Dublin Bus, whereby they fund local community groups from un-reclaimed fares. Each application is judged independently and successful groups are awarded grants ranging from €5,000, €2,000 or €1,000.
"The Dublin Bus Community Support Programme was launched in December 2003 as a way of recognising the valuable work done by local charities and voluntary groups based across the Dublin Bus service network. I am delighted that local groups from Ballymun, Finglas, Larkhill and Santry have been recognised for their valuable work and contribution to our local community."
This years successful groups included the Ballymun Men's Centre, 75th East Finglas Scout Club, Glor Na Gael Baile Munna, 18th Santry Scout Group, Larkhill Karate Club, Cumann Baire Setanta and Holy Child National School.
