Shortall Welcomes Much Needed Sports Funding

Local TD and Minister of State at the Department of Health, Róisín Shortall has welcomed the announcement of much needed additional funding for local sports centres.
This announcement comes as part of additional capital funding to nine local authority-backed sports projects across the country. The funding is designed to boost participation in sport.
Sports centres in both Ballymun and Finglas have been allocated much need additional funds to enhance and improve their facilities.
Poppintree Community Sports Centre on Balbutcher Lane has been provided with €25,850 for additional fencing around parts of the centre. Ballymun Leisure Centre was also awarded €31,831 for the installation of rubber flooring.
In addition to this, Finglas Leisure Centre has been awarded €21,492 for the enhancement of the changing room facilities, €32,954 for floor covering, €20,358 for netting, and €6,376 for additional fencing.
Minister Shortall commented, 'I welcome this badly need investment in our local facilities. This additional funding will go a long way to improving our local sports projects.
'I hope that each investment will bring about real improvements in the local area in general, but also will encourage people to take part in sport or to try out a new sports activity.
