1. FF/GREENS VOTE DOWN LABOUR BILL CALLING FOR DOWNWARD REVIEW OF COMMERCIAL RENTS

   The decision of Fianna Fail and the Green Party to vote down a Labour Party Private Members Bill in the Dáil last week that would have allowed for the downward review of commercial rents was a deplorable and short-sighted decision that will lead to further loss of jobs.
2. GRANT CUTS DASH EDUCATION HOPES OF UNEMPLOYED AND MATURE STUDENTS

Ronan McManus has expressed great concern at the recent report in the media which outlined the Government plans to axe hundreds of Special Needs Assistant posts and said “it is worrying in the extreme”.“I  was  shocked  to  read  in last week’s newspapers that there is to be a significant  reduction in numbers of Special Needs Assistants and this blow is worrying in the extreme”, said Cllr.
