BRAY TOPS THE IBAL ANTI-LITTER LEAGUE

Issued : Monday 4 January, 2010

Cllr. Ronan McManus (Chairperson of the BTC Litter Taskforce) has expressed
his delight at the announcement today that Bray has won First Place at
the IBAL anti-litter awards.

" This is a great boost for the town and I am personally very proud to be
involved with the groups that are working towards improving the appearance
of the Bray area."

"This award is a tribute to all of those who have worked hard to improve
the town over the last 18 months. I think that special thanks should be
given to the work of the members of the BTC Litter Taskforce (past and
present), Bray Coastcare, Chamber of Commerce, An Garda Siochana and the
Council's outdoor cleaning staff."

BTC Litter Taskforce consists of a councillor from each ward - Cllr.Ronan
McManus (East) (Chairperson), Cllr.Rossa Murray (West), Cllr.Sarah Wray
(South), John Nolan (Bray Chamber of Commerce), Sgt John Fitzpatrick (Bray
Gardai), Moira Byrne (Wicklow County Council), Leah Kinsella (Wicklow
Volunteers Centre), Paul Wogan & Triona Irving (BTC), Zuzana Tilson (Bray
Resident)

"This is a very exciting time to be on the Litter Taskforce as we are
planning several new initiatives for 2010, including reconvening the Bray
Tidy Towns Committee. "

"While it is great for the town to be recognised like this, there is always
room for improvement. The Litter Taskforce considers the IBAL award to be a
launching pad to a better town environment rather than a final destination.
We fully expect the year ahead to see further improvement, not just in the
area of litter but also in the general maintenance of the town.

"We are currently looking for volunteers for various projects that we have
in mind. If you are interested in helping out in any way we can be
contacted by email at braytidytowns@gmail.com"
