Bridgend: Where the estate has no name

Issued : Sunday 6 May, 2007

Angry and insulted residents of an estate in Bridegend told Siobhan McLaughlin, the Labour Party for the North East that not only did Donegal County Council not dignify the housing development with a name but had cleared away the existing play area to accommodate yet more housing units. "They ploughed and dug up the playground to make way for more houses without any notification," said one irate resident. "The families living here have been treated disgracefully," said Ms McLaughlin, 'they have been dealt with as if they are non-existent, invisible and of no importance. The Council has not even afforded the estate a name." "Why would they want to build additional houses when the existing homes are experiencing problems with flooding? It is sheer blatant disregard for the dignity of the families living here!"
