My Philosophy

Eamon Gilmore and Tom Fortune

We need to get back to basics. We all understand the importance of family, but we have lost sight of the importance of our sense of community. We need to have pride in where we live. We need to further develop community involvement. Communities can do so much that is why I got involved as a county councillor in 2004. We need to reinvigorate this sense of community at national level, re-establish pride in how we organise our society and then project a new image of Ireland to our future international partners. We can do this.

I believe I can deliver for Wicklow and Ireland by bringing a real change in outlook, values and policies to the table.

I know what difficult time’s are.

This crisis has been brought about by a government that has completely lost sight of the interests of the electorate.  We need a fresh approach to, job creation, an effective public service and a fair society that encourages enterprise and protects the disadvantaged.

My commitment to the public good of Wicklow people has been central to my roles as both Chairman of  Wicklow County Council and Wicklow Tourism. I am equally committed now to make a difference for YOU at a national level. My name is Tom Fortune, I have been a labour party County Councillor since 2004.
